—Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But Love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle that took him in.
~~Edwin Markham
All my life I lived by this motto. No matter what circle kept me 'out', I would draw a bigger circle that took them in. I have learned through the course of life that you just don't know, you just can't see all the hurts of everyone around you. You don't know what they were just pleading with heaven for, or how broken they might be. Because pain, sorrow, loss, heartbreak, grief, and depression...don't always show clearly on the face. So never forget your power to reach out. Never forget your ability to draw a bigger circle, to take someone in. Instead of wasting any minutes of your life hurt, angry or slighted, instead find a way to bring them in. Why? Because friends lift the soul. But so often we find ourself the one waiting and longing to be lifted. When the very act of looking outside of ourselves and lifting someone else will result in the VERY THING we long for. It is an unexplicable phenomenon...that when you lift another you elevate yourself. Maybe you are a skeptic? Possibly you don't believe me? Well, get out a pen and write a letter of gratitude to one person who has made a significant contribution in your life. When you get done with that letter...tell me how you feel. I thought so! When we lift, we are lifted. So go exercise your friend muscles this week. You have NOTHING to lose and EVERYTHING to gain!
Changing the world...ONE letter at a time!
